Christopher Royal grew up in the Southeast, moving to Chicago to pursue his acting career. He began his furniture design career in miniature, creating a series of tiny "Art Chairs" made of brass, copper, steel and beadwork. These chairs were extremely popular, selling in galleries across the country until he could no longer keep up with the demand. His latest line of miniature chairs are cut from nickel silver and incorporate a clip into the design for cards, photos, etc. In 1998 Chris joined forces with Rockledge design studios, and together they have been translating his whimsical miniature designs into full-size, functional furniture. The line now includes chairs, a loveseat, side tables and more. The pieces are made of beautifully polished aluminum, uniting style and function. |

The Rockledge Design Studio is an innovative group of designers located in Florida. Their pieces range from small silver placeholders to furniture and sculpture, all sharing a unique and playful approach to art. Fred Garbotz, the designer of our popular "he/she" furniture series, is a talented metalworker who works in many different media. His art experience started with a formal education in art and architecture at Washington University, and continuted through his 7 years of living on a 40-foot sailboat, scavenging for scrap metal at every port. Since returning to dry land, Fred has devoted himself full time to his artwork and the rewards are obvious! Rockledge Design also represents Chris Royal and several other skilled artists. |
